A series of seminars have been created for our clients, all of which can be catered to your particular audience and educational needs. All seminars are taught by Knight-Barry professionals and industry leaders and are designed to provide valuable information to our clients and the clients they serve. - "Clearing the Standard Exceptions"
All of Knight-Barry's title commitments include Standard Exceptions 1 through 8 on Schedule B-II of the commitment. In this seminar we will review each standard exception, explain why the standard exception is included and provide insight on when Knight-Barry will be willing to remove these exceptions. Recommended audience: all real estate professionals. Seminar length: 60 minutes.
This seminar takes an in-depth look at the title insurance owner's and loan policies, focusing on exception clearance issues, surveys, affidavits, claims and, of course, endorsements. We will end with issues from the closing table including a discussion of funds transfers and the difference between a "mark-up" and pro-forma policy. Recommended audience: commercial real estate brokers, lenders and lawyers. Seminar length: 60 minutes
- "Lien Priority Issues - Does my lien Trump yours"
The answer - Donald Trump does not always win. Attendees will walk away from this seminar knowing why Knight-Barry will insure one lien or mortgage over another. We will discuss lien priority under Wisconsin and federal laws including why some liens and mortgages take priority over earlier filed liens (discussion to include purchase money mortgages, construction liens, judgment liens and child-support liens). Recommended audience: all real estate professionals. Seminar length: 30-60 minutes.
- "Legal Descriptions and Mapping"
After this seminar attendees will have the basic skills necessary to map out basic metes and bounds legal descriptions. Topics include: using a scale and compass, reading a plat of survey and understanding the different types of survey maps. Recommended audience: all real estate professionals. This seminar examines the step-by-step process of construction escrows, including the role of the disburser (escrow agent), common reasons for draw delays, how to expedite the draw requests, inspections and duties of all parties. Recommended audience: lenders, developers, contractors, subcontractors and real estate professionals. Seminar length: 60 minutes.

If you ever wanted to know the process of foreclosure & short sales, then this seminar is for you. Topics include: the foreclosure time-line, bidding at a sheriff's sale, and preparing short-sale closing statements. Recommended audience: all real estate professionals. Seminar length: 120 minutes.

- "10 Things Never to Say or Do in a Closing"
Learn the 10 common mistakes closers make that may result in a blown deal or a lawsuit. Recommended audience: loan officers, processors, management and of course, closers. Seminar length: 60 minutes.
- "Title Insurance for Dummies"
Designed for your entire loan staff, this seminar includes an explanation of how to read a title commitment, how title insurance is priced and other frequently asked questions. We also explain the popular questions such as who must sign our mortgage and how do I remove this old mortgage from title. Recommended audience: all lending staff. Seminar length: 60-120 minutes.
This interactive session will cover topics including document recording trouble, final title policy issues, new title policy products, Affidavits of Correction and bankruptcy avoidance issues. A local Register of Deeds may attend to assist. Recommended audience: processors, management and servicing staff. Seminar length: 30-60 minutes.

For the new real estate professional and as a refresher for the seasoned veteran. In this seminar we explain how to read a title commitment, common deal killers, the nuts and bolts of a closing statement, and a walk-through of a typical closing. Recommended audience: all real state staff. Seminar length: 60-120 minutes.
For the real estate professional involved in investment or commercial real estate transactions, this seminar explains the basics of 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges, also known as Starker Exchanges. Go behind the scenes to learn the deadlines, what happens in the exchange, the planning possibilities and an explanation of the every day exchange questions. We will also touch base on the lesser known and used Reverse Exchange. Recommended audience: investment and commercial agents/brokers. Seminar length: 60 minutes.
- "FSBO"(For Sale by Owner)
For sellers selling without an agent. Listen to our closing staff, local lenders, real estate agents, appraisers, attorneys and inspectors as they walk you through the home sale process. Get to know local real estate agents and lenders who will explain common forms and procedures and pitfalls of the deal.
